Jermaine Wattimena vs Peter Wright Prediction

Jermaine Wattimena came into the World Championships this year as the one unseeded player that everybody will have wanted to have avoided and with good reason. The Dutchman has been in superb form beating Stefan Bellmont and then 16th seed James Wade in comprehensive fashion.

He has yet to drop a set and he has produced superb averages of 98.54 and 99.17 in his two victories and is looking in ominous form so far.

He now meets 17th seed Peter Wright and it is Wattimena who is the heavy favourite despite facing a seed.

Many had considered Wright to be ripe for an upset given his miserable form in 2024 but the veteran Scot managed to get a 3-1 win over Wesley Plaisier. He did however only manage a 89.63 average in a relatively low quality match and he will have to play much better against Wattimena here.

We are not overly confident in Wright being able to step up. Wattimena can get him on the back foot early and we have to favour the Dutchman to continue his fine form here and eliminate another seed.
