Jannik Sinner vs Ben Shelton Prediction
Jannik Sinner showed no signs of the illness that troubled him in his round of 16 match against Holger Rune as he dominated Alex de Minaur in Wednesday’s quarter-final. The world number one and defending champion in Melbourne lost just six games in total as he eased to a 6-3 6-2 6-1 victory to make it through to the semis.
He will meet American talent Ben Shelton who has done exceptionally well to reach his second Grand Slam semi-final after he managed to do so in the US Open back in 2023.
The tall 22-year-old was largely in control for most of his quarter-final against Lorenzo Sonego but while he has faced some decent opponents, none come close to the quality that Sinner possesses.
Shelton actually beat Sinner in their first-ever meeting back in 2023 in Shanghai but Sinner has won all four meetings since then.
The Italian is playing on a different level right now and it is hard to see Shelton finding a way to cause him too many problems here. Expect Sinner to win in three or maybe four sets.
Jannik Sinner vs Ben Shelton Tip: Jannik Sinner to win 3-0 or 3-1
