Jan Blachowicz vs Carlos Ulberg Prediction
It is almost two years since we have seen Jan Blachowicz in the Octagon and that was when the Polish star lost a narrow-split decision to Alex Pereira at UFC 291 in July 2023. He has become something of the forgotten man in the UFC’s light-heavyweight division and it is easy to forget just how good he is. Prior to the loss against Pereira, he drew against current champion Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 282 so despite the recent layoff, we should not forget just how high a level Blachowicz has been fighting.
The UFC have handed him a very tough fight to return to as he meets the uber-talented Carlos Ulberg. The Kiwi star is on a real surge in the UFC having won his last seven fights in the Octagon. While he has made a name for himself knocking people out, his decision-victory over Volkan Oezdemir in November made something of a statement in the division.
This represents another major step up in class however for Ulberg as he meets the dangerous Blachowicz. It would be easy for many people to underestimate the Polish star after time out and we feel like that is exactly what the bookmakers are doing. That is likely because he is now 42-years-old but we feel a little uneasy about going with Ulberg and writing off Blachowicz here.
We can see this one going the distance and that is our play in this fight.
Prediction: Fight to go the distance
