Jakub Mensik vs Novak Djokovic Prediction
19-year-old Czech star Jakub Mensik has made it to his first ATP 1000 masters final and he will now be looking to spring an upset and beat the legend that is Novak Djokovic. Mensik has been in scintillating form in Miami beating a whole host of quality opponents.
He made people sit up and take notice early in the tournament by beating Indian Wells winner Jack Draper and he has followed that up impressively since that first round win. His semi-final victory on Friday night against Taylor Fritz was highly impressive. After Fritz won the second set to even things up, the momentum was clearly with the American third seed. However, Mensik held his nerve, continue to play some outstanding tennis and edged the final set tiebreak to win 7-6 4-6 7-6.
He now meets Novak Djokovic who has found some of his best form in Miami. The Serbian legend has yet to drop a single set of the five matches he has played, and there is that air of confidence and invincibility about him.
Djokovic dominated Grigor Dimitrov in the semi-finals winning 6-2 6-3 and after his early elimination at Indian Wells, he has been super focused and determined this week.
The 37-year-old will not find it easy against Mensik on this kind of form although we have more question marks over the how the 19-year-old will handle such a big occasion against one of the greatest players of all time.
We could see Mensik potentially taking a set and becoming the first player to win one against Djokovic in Miami, but we expect the experience and know-how of Djokovic to shine through and see him win his 100th ATP Tour title.
