Jacqueline Cristian vs Sonay Kartal prediction

Last month, Jacqueline Cristian returned to the winners circle with a fine victory at the WTA 125 Puerto Vallarta Open, dropping just two sets throughout the tournament. However, she did fall to a disappointing loss at the Open de Rouen, losing to little known Tiantsoa Rakotomanga Rajaonah in straight sets in her first clay court event of the year.

Sonay Kartal also had a poor defeat at the same event, losing at the earliest stage to Varvara Gracheva in straight sets. This was a disappointment for the British number three, who had just made her debut for Great Britain in the Billie Jean Cup a week prior. 

Kartal will aim for deeper runs over the next few weeks to put pressure on Katie Boulter who is the current British number one. They’ve never played on clay before, but the head-to-head is 1-1, with Kartal winning their last match against each other in September.

These two are both similar in ranking and we’re expecting a close one, but we think Cristian is slightly favoured to win in three sets.
