Jacob Fearnley vs Alex de Minaur prediction
In his first ever main draw match on clay at an ATP 500 tournament, Jacob Fearnley made the most of his lucky loser tag by defeating Roberto Carballes Baena 6-1 7-5 in a really impressive performance.
Ranked 74th, Fearnley will gain direct entry to the French Open main draw for the first time in his career, though he has his work cut out in his next match as he faces Alex de Minaur. The Australian was so close to making his second Masters 1000 final and first on clay last week, losing a third set tiebreak in the semi-finals of Monte-Carlo to Lorenzo Musetti.
De Minaur has shown real improvement on the surface in recent times and that was highlighted in his first-round match here as he beat last year’s semi-finalist Tomas Etcheverry 6-4 6-4 without dropping a game on his serve.
The Australian is playing at an excellent level at the moment, and we can see him making it through against Fearnley in straight sets.
