The equivalent fixture last year was a 13-13 draw in France, and Italy will hope to be competitive again this time around as round three of the 2025 Six Nations Championship concludes in Rome.

Italy Form: Scrappy win against Wales

Italy coped well with being the favourites against struggling Wales last time out, winning 22-15 in a scrappy affair in Rome, and head coach Gonzalo Quesada will be urging his team to use that victory as a springboard for future success.

The Azzurri will be aware that that was their most favourable fixture of the Six Nations, however, and they know they have plenty of work to do if they are to either reach or surpass the 11 points they accumulated in last year’s tournament.

France Form: Title hopes dented

France’s Six Nations hopes took a huge dent two weeks ago when they conceded a try and conversion in the dying moments against England in Twickenham, in a match they felt they should have closed out.

The pre-tournament favourites ultimately lost 26-25 and they know that nothing less than a bonus point victory will do here as they look to get back on track and keep the pressure on their rivals at the top of the table.

Italy vs France Prediction

Defeat to England was not in the script for a France side who many were tipping to end Ireland’s dominance in the Six Nations this year, and a big response will be expected from them here against one of the weaker sides in the tournament.

Italy may not have beaten France since 2013 – a run of 15 straight matches without victory – but they did manage to hold Les Bleus to a memorable 13-13 draw in the corresponding fixture last year.

This one is unlikely to be as close though, with France much-improved this year despite their recent defeat. Expect a fast start from the visitors, who look likely to be leading at the end of both halves at the Stadio Olimpico.
