Ipswich Town have been competitive this season but this is simply must win, last chance saloon, whatever cliché you prefer as they take on Wolverhampton Wanderers in Suffolk.

Ipswich Preview: Much-needed win

Ipswich Town have perhaps given themselves a chance of safety with eight games of the 2024/25 Premier League season to go, pulling off their fourth victory of the campaign in surprising fashion at the Vitality Stadium in midweek.

Against an admittedly out of form AFC Bournemouth side down on the south coast, Kieran McKenna’s side managed to defeat the Cherries by two goals to one courtesy of goals in either half from forwards Nathan Broadhead and Liam Delap.

Wolves Preview: Can all but secure safety

Wolverhampton Wanderers have been much-improved since the appointment of former Porto boss Vitor Pereira, replacing Gary O’Neil in mid-December, and they will believe safety is secured if they can earn a victory at Portman Road this weekend.

They returned from the March international break with a hard-fought and slender victory over West Ham United at Molineux in midweek courtesy of a 21st minute strike from Norway international striker Jorgen Strand Larsen, who now has three goals in his last two games.

Wolves Team News: Cunha still out

The form of Strand Larsen has softened the blow of the absence of Matheus Cunha and the Brazil international remains suspended for this weekend, whilst Wolves also deal with a few other injury issues such as Yerson Mosquera, Leon Chiwone, Enso Gonzalez and Sasa Kalajdzic.

Ipswich vs Wolves Prediction

Ipswich Town can close the gap to six points on Wolverhampton Wanderers if they can get the win this weekend. They finished the year very well and have since endured a really tough run of form with that win against Bournemouth their first of the calendar year in the league. Wolves, on the other hand, have been underwhelming themselves this season but have been much-improved and have been boosted by the form of Jorgen Strand Larsen so both teams scoring may well be a good bet as Wolves seek to punish an Ipswich side that will put everything on the line.
