BOBBY KING GREEN VS PADDY PIMBLETT LOWDOWN
Bobby Green (32-15-1(1)) has been given the matchup he has been craving after a classy unanimous decision win over Jim Miller (2024) on the blockbuster UFC 300 card. He showed great character as that dub came in response to a brutal knockout and late stoppage against Jalin Turner (2023) and he now sits on a storied UFC record of 13-10-1(1).
Paddy Pimblett (21-3) is still on his quest up the rankings. He kicked it off with three ‘Performance of Night’ displays knocking out Luigi Vendramini (2021) and submitting Rodrigo (2022) and Jordan Leavitt (2022). He then went on to earn a controversial unanimous decision over Jared Gordon (2022) before a more convincing decision over Tony Ferguson (2023) extending his win streak to seven.
BOBBY KING GREEN VS PADDY PIMBLETT PREDICTION
This is the test Pimblett needs. Green is an experienced veteran who is a better striker and very hard to take down. Pimblett fancies himself as a striker and if he has the confidence to trade on the feet or is forced to because he cannot land the takedown, he could get pieced up.
Pimblett has decent kicks, but Green will exploit his defence and will find a home for his lightening hands. The Liverpudlian has to make this ugly, create scrambles and try and pounce on the back. Even if Pimblett can get the fight to the ground, Green has not been submitted since 2009.
So, Green is the favourite but if he does not respect Pimblett, we can see him getting clipped and finished. His last three loses have finished via knockout and he cannot afford to be complacent. There is value on Pimblett who can win this in a variety of ways, but on paper, this is a very tough matchup for him.
Prediction: Green via Decision
Value Bet: Pimblett to win
