BANGLADESH FORM: FAILURE TO BACK IT UP
A couple of months ago, Bangladesh pulled off a historic series result by defeating Pakistan 2-0 in Pakistan. However, since then, they have suffered fairly heavy hammerings in India and were comfortably beaten by South Africa in Dhaka last week as they continue to try and rebuild to move into a new generation which they’ve been trying to do for a few years now.

SOUTH AFRICA FORM: POTENTIAL HISTORY
South African Test cricket has been in the so-called doldrums, albeit nowhere near the drop in level of Sri Lanka or the West Indies, recently but the Proteas could well squeeze into the top two of the ICC World Test Championship. Their seven-wicket win in Dhaka last week has opened the door for another ICC final for the South Africans.

BANGLADESH BETTING ANALYSIS
Mehedi Hasan Miraz has turned into a genuinely excellent all-rounder in the last few years. He came three runs short of hitting his second Test match century in the second innings last week and is their most consistent scorer of runs, hitting 560 in the 23/25 WTC, which is the most of any Bangladeshi so backing him to be their best batter in the match looks a safe bet.
In terms of the bowling department, Mehedi has also taken 27 wickets but it is the likes of Taijul Islam and Hasan Mahmud that are perhaps the most threatening. Taijul was their best bowler in both innings last week so, for the sake of gambler’s fallacy, siding with Mahmud to take two or more wickets in both innings this time seems a good bet.
SOUTH AFRICA BETTING ANALYSIS
South Africa’s centurion from last week, wicket-keeper Kyle Verreynne, may well be turning himself into a proper player at international level and he managed some gritty scores in Australia last year as well as having good first class numbers. Backing Verreynne to continue his good form with a 50+ score in either innings here seems a good bet.
With the ball, it is the main man Kagiso Rabada. The excellent 29-year-old has been sublime throughout his Test career and became the fastest man to 300 wickets, in terms of balls bowled, last week. Rabada to take another couple, at least, in both innings would appear the safe bet for this one.
BANGLADESH VS SOUTH AFRICA EXPERT PREDICTION
The fact that New Zealand have beaten India in a Test series, the first time India have lost at home in a series since England’s 2-1 win back in 2012, has opened the door even further for South Africa, or even Sri Lanka, to pip India, and even Australia into the top two. They have momentum and have also shown an ability to win a game whilst chasing in Bangladesh so there should be enough confidence to complete a very impressive 2-0 win with a victory in Chittagong.
