On paper this one would appear to be one of the more one-sided affairs in Italian football at the moment but it has the potential to be a lot closer than that as an inconsistent Inter side take on an improving Venezia that should be buoyant after their midweek exertions.

INTER MILAN PREVIEW: INTER LACKING INTRICACY
Simone Inzaghi’s defending Italian champions Internazionale begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting second in the table and actually four points behind league leaders Napoli with that potentially being as many as seven points by the time this game gets underway due to Napoli facing Atalanta earlier on on Sunday.
The Nerazzurri have been inconsistent and unconvincing in terms of their performances across all competitions so far this season – especially in relative terms in comparison to last season. Inter did eventually defeat Empoli by three goals to nil in midweek but, once again, they were quite underwhelming.
VENEZIA PREVIEW: FUN IN VENICE
Following promotion to the top-flight last season, Venezia lost manager Paolo Vanoli to Torino and replaced him with former Frosinone and Roma boss Eusebio Di Francesco. The attacking coach can often be described as naïve and that was probably the case as his Frosinone side were relegated on the final day of last season.
The Venetians have started the season slowly and do remain in the bottom three and the relegation places ahead of this weekend’s round of fixtures. However, they did earn their second win of the campaign in their tenth match during the week as they came from 2-0 down to defeat Udinese by three goals to two.
INTER MILAN TEAM NEWS: SEVERAL ISSUES
Internazionale players and Inzaghi himself have been whinging quite a lot this season about playing games of football and suggesting they are now playing too much.
They are dealing with several injury absentees for this one against Venezia with Francesco Acerbi sidelined alongside both Carlos Augusto and Hakan Calhanoglu.
PREDICTED XI (3-5-2): Sommer; Bisseck, De Vrij, Bastoni; Darmian, Frattesi, Barella, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Thuram, Lautaro Martinez
UNAVAILABLE: Acerbi (Injured), Carlos Augusto (Injured), Calhanoglu (Injured)

VENEZIA TEAM NEWS: NO IDZES
Venezia defender Jay Idzes has been a crucial player for the visitors throughout this campaign but he is currently absent for them due to personal reasons at the moment.
As well as the absence of Idzes, Venezia are also still dealing with the injury absence of Icelandic international central midfielder Bjarkar Bjarkason.
PREDICTED XI (3-4-2-1): Stankovic; Altare, Svoboda, Haps; Candela, Caviglia, Duncan, Ellertsson; Yeboah, Busio; Pohjanpalo
UNAVAILABLE: Idzes (Personal reasons), Bjarkason (Injured)

INTER MILAN VS VENEZIA PREDICTION
Inter Milan need to find some fluency and form to be able to catch Napoli as we move past the quarter-way stage of the season. They have suffered just one defeat but there is something just a little ‘off’ about them. They take on a Venezia side at San Siro that have had 28 goals come in their ten matches so far this season and will probably still try to take the game to their opposition. That should allow space for Inter to exploit.
