Inter Milan Preview: Pegged back in their defence
Internazionale had the chance to go to the top of the Serie A table on goal difference the other day but they blew that opportunity with a 3-0 loss to Fiorentina in the game that was rearranged as a result of Edoardo Bove suffering a cardiac arrest in the original fixture in November.
The Nerazzurri also had to settle for a 1-1 draw in the Derby della Madonnina against AC Milan last week at San Siro. AC Milan had been the only team to have beaten Inter this season across all competitions until that loss against Fiorentina.
Fiorentina Preview: I Viola rediscovering their form
Raffaele Palladino had Fiorentina pushing for the title before Christmas but I Viola went on a really patchy run of form. However, that impressive performance the other day thanks to a brace scored by Moise Kean and a Luca Ranieri goal has continued their improved form.
That win came on the back of back-to-back 2-1 victories against Lazio and Genoa with their three-match winning streak having come after a run of no wins in their previous seven matches across all competitions.
Inter Milan Team News: Dumfries suspended
Denzel Dumfries didn’t serve his suspension at the Artemio Franchi due to the rearranged nature of the match but he is now unavailable. Inter, despite the result, are unlikely to make any other changes to what was their strongest possible eleven.
Predicted XI (3-5-2): Sommer; Bisseck, De Vrij, Bastoni; Darmian, Barella, Calhanoglu, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Thuram, Lautaro Martinez
Unavailable: Di Gennaro (Injured), Joaquin Correa (Injured)

Fiorentina Team News: The changes in system
Palladino, a disciple of Gian Piero Gasperini, started the season with a back three but then got their best results with a 4-2-3-1. During the poor run, he went back to the three but the back four has returned and was deployed in their hammering of Inter.
Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): David de Gea; Dodo, Pongracic, Ranieri, Gosens; Cataldi, Richardson; Colpani, Beltran, Gudmundsson; Kean
Unavailable: Comuzzo (Suspended), Bove (Illness)
Questionable: Pablo Mari (Injured), Adli (Injured), Gudmundsson (Injured)
Inter Milan vs Fiorentina Prediction
Inter need a response. Simone Inzaghi will be deeply unhappy with the performance. At this stage last season they hadn’t quite got into the gear that saw them romp to the title despite still being dominant. Performances and results are a way off that, though, at the moment. They face a Fiorentina side that will fancy their chances on the counter-attack and may well score but Inter remain favourites to get some revenge at San Siro this weekend.
