Inter Milan Preview: Grinding it out

After romping to their 20th Italian title last season and earning the second star upon their badge, Internazionale are seeking to back that up this season by earning themselves the treble in the final couple of months of the campaign.

They are currently drawing 1-1 with AC Milan in the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia and begin this Serie A match day sitting at the top-of-the-table in the league, whilst also now leading their UEFA Champions League quarter-final tie against Bayern Munich by two goals to one.

Cagliari Preview: Stubborn and steady Sardinians

Cagliari come into this one on the back of a goalless draw with struggling Empoli at Stadio Carlo Castellani in their most recent outing in Florence last weekend. The Sardinians have now managed just one victory in their last seven matches in Serie A.

The visitors have been generally underwhelming, albeit stubborn, throughout the campaign as they hover just above the bottom three and the relegation places. Their 31 Serie A matches have consisted of 75 goals this season.

Inter Milan Team News: Still no Dumfries

The likes of Alessandro Bastoni, Nicolo Barella and Lautaro Martinez have returned to full fitness for this weekend but they are still dealing with a few issues such as the injury absence of Netherlands international wing-back Denzel Dumfries.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): Sommer; Pavard, Acerbi, Bastoni; Darmian, Barella, Calhanoglu, Mkhitaryan, Carlos Augusto; Thuram, Lautaro Martinez

Unavailable: Dumfries (Injured), Zielinski (Injured), Carboni (Injured), Taremi (Injured)

Cagliari Team News: Fully fit

Ahead of their trip to Milan this weekend, Cagliari have no fresh injury concerns or suspension issues with a fully fit and available squad so, if they so choose, they will be able to name an unchanged eleven for this one.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Caprile; Palomino, Yerry Mina, Luperto; Zortea, Adopo, Makoumbou, Augello; Viola, Zito Luvumbo; Piccoli

Unavailable:

Inter Milan vs Cagliari Prediction

Internazionale were rampant and ruthless in the final few months of last season but as Simone Inzaghi’s side fight on multiple fronts, they are finding it a bit harder to consistently reach a high level. They now take on a Cagliari side that have often been difficult to play and score against this season but their overall form has more or less collapsed and a fairly comfortable Inter victory is to be expected for this one, especially at San Siro.
