India Preview: Only team with perfect record
Of all the sides who have competed in this year’s ICC Champions Trophy, only India have won all three of their scheduled games. Victory over New Zealand was followed up by a win against fierce rivals Pakistan, before Rohit Sharma’s men completed a clean sweep of Group A by beating New Zealand.
It’s been extremely pleasing from an Indian perspective that different players have contributed, especially on the batting front. Whether it be Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer, all have produced a big knock at some stage, whilst the absence of Jasprit Bumrah on the bowing front hasn’t been felt yet.
Australia Preview: Another abandonment sends Aussies through
After beating England in their first group game, Australia’s following two games failed to reach results. Their match against South Africa was washed out, whilst their clash with Afghanistan also didn’t meet a conclusion despite 62.5 overs being played overall. However, the two points Australia gained from those two fixtures were enough to take them through as runners-up.
India will pose Australia their biggest challenge yet, but the Aussies’ triumphed over Rohit Sharma’s side in the 2023 Cricket World Cup final and cricket fans across the world are well aware that Australia always seem to find a way to win when it comes to big tournaments such as this, even when things may not be in their favour.
India Betting Analysis
India batter Shreyas Iyer’s 79 against New Zealand took his overall tally accumulated so far at the ICC Champions Trophy to 150 runs over the course of three innings. That’s an average of exactly 50 and Iyer passed that milestone twice in the group stage. Whilst backing this outcome again in the semi-finals represents a risk, it may prove a smarter move to back Iyer recording over 26.5 match runs.
Australia Betting Analysis
With Australia’s first-choice pace bowling attack all injured, Ben Dwarshuis has stepped up to the plate in their absence. The left-arm seamer has taken six wickets so far and will be vital to the success of his team against India. With that in mind, utilising the ‘Bowler Milestones’ market seems a shrewd play here, specifically backing Dwarshuis to take 2+ wickets.
India vs Australia Expert Prediction
After sailing through the group stage, this serves as India’s toughest challenge yet by some margin. Australia may be without a number of top players on the bowling front but they remain formidable opposition, particularly when it comes to ICC major tournaments such as this. But India do remain the gold standard across this competition so far and it’s hard to see their performance levels dropping.
As mentioned in our other previews involving Rohit Sharma’s side, playing all their matches at the same ground works in their favour, especially with it being in a different country that means other nations must travel to them. Australia may prove to be slightly undercooked when taking into account that two of their games failed to reach a conclusion due to bad weather. Add in the fact that India have looked so strong in their group stage campaign and backing them to reach the final is the sensible move to make.
