THE LOWDOWN

Iga Swiatek gets her WTA Tour Finals campaign under away on Sunday playing her first competitive tennis since the US Open two months ago. She has had some time out due to fatigue and has taken the hit from a ranking perspective but she returns for this end of year finale looking to click back into gear.

She meets Wimbledon champion Barbora Krejcikova in their opening match and the Czech star will be hoping to put in a better showing than she has in recent weeks on the Asia leg of the WTA Tour. Her form has been below-par based on her high standards she has set but she will be fired up to do well in this tournament.

The pair have met on four previous occasions with each player winning two matches apiece. It is Krejcikova who has won the last two meetings and that will give her confidence coming into this one.

As good as Swiatek is, it is hard to see her hitting the ground running after not playing in the last two months. Krejcikova has stayed active and while she is not firing on all cylinders, we fancy her to get the win in this opening group-stage match.

BETTING TIP: BARBORA KREJCIKOVA TO WIN
