THE PREDICTION
Defending champions Finland will look to retain their title as they
take on Canada in the final of the IIHF World Championship. They showed
superb defensive resolve to keep Germany at bay in their semi-final
clash and will now do battle with a Canada outfit that have turned
things around in a spectacular way to advance to the final. The
Canadians were on the brink of elimination thanks to a woeful start in
the tournament but somehow progressed to the knockout stages with a
losing record. That did not deter them as they shocked well-fancied
Russia and USA to book their spot in this one. However, the Finns have
been consistently good all tournament and look a class above defensively
so expect them to keep it tight in a contest that produces no more than
six goals with the reigning champions ultimately prevailing.
