MONTREAL CANADIENS

  • Montreal Canadiens made it back-to-back victories and improved to 6-4-2 for the season as they defeated Arizona Coyotes in what was their second game of scoring at least four goals in succession.
  • The Canadiens now have a better record on the road than they do at home with the victory at the Coyotes seeing them move to 3-1-2 in a game where they did not look back having taken the lead early on in the first period before running out 4-1 winners.
  • With a short turnaround to this game, the Canadiens will be thankful that they did not pick up any injuries in last night’s game and look to have a relatively healthy roster for this second game of their road trip.

VEGAS GOLDEN KNIGHTS

  • Vegas Golden Knights were too good for the Anaheim Ducks to move to 8-5-0 for the year and that win helped them to remain in contention at the top of the Pacific Division but they will face a big test if they want to make it back-to-back wins.
  • The Golden Knights overcame going behind early on against the Ducks as they scored five consecutive goals before a consolation effort from their opponents in the third period saw the game end 2-5.
  • Defenseman Nate Schmidt looks ready to return to action after logging practices on Monday and Wednesday and he will provide his team with a big boost if he takes to the ice for this encounter after sitting out since picking up an injury at the start of October.

THE PREDICTION

This looks like an intriguing contest between two teams in good form and they are both coming off victories in their last game. Vegas Golden Knights have the better record of the two but Montreal Canadiens have shown they are strong on the road so far this season. The Canadiens won three of the four contests between the two teams last season and will hope to improve that record here but with Nate Schmidt set to return, he can help his side pick up their ninth win of the year.
