Hull FC Team News: Injuries rack up for the Black and Whites

They may have pulled off a stunning win in France against Catalan Dragons last week but it came at a heavy price as Hull FC coach John Cartwright is counting the cost of injuries. Jed Cartwright picked up a hamstring problem while Amir Bourouh is out due to concussion protocols. Zak Hardaker and Ryan Westerman are two other players absent, although Jack Ashworth has been passed fit and Ed Chamberlain returns from injury.

Squad: Jordan Rapana, Harvey Barron, Ed Chamberlain, Tom Briscoe, Aidan Sezer, Herman Ese’ese, Ligi Sao, Jordan Lane, John Asiata, Cade Cust, Yusuf Aydin, Jack Ashworth, Brad Fash, Will Gardiner, Lewis Martin, Logan Moy, Denive Balmforth, Callum Kemp, Hugo Salabio, Will Kirby, Will Hutchinson

Wigan Warriors Team News: Matt Peet names unchanged squad

Wigan Warriors coach Matt Peet has named the same 21 players for the second round of the Super League and after failing to score a single point in their opener against the Leigh Leopards, he will be demanding an improvement here. Abbas Miski was held out last week as he was still not 100% but the winger could feature this week.

Squad: Jai Field, Abbas Miski, Adam Keighran, Jake Wardle, Liam Marshall, Bevan French, Harry Smith, Luke Thompson, Junior Nsemba, Liam Farrell, Kaide Ellis, Patrick Mago, Liam Byrne, Kruise Leeming, Tyler Dupree, Harvie Hill, Sam Walters, Zach Eckersley, Tom Forber, Jack Farrimond, Harvey Makin

Hull FC vs Wigan Warriors Prediction

Contrasting results for these two teams in the opening round of the Super League and it is fair to say that nobody predicted the outcome, and certainly the manner, of those two results.

Hull FC caught Catalans cold in France and produced a shock result there while Wigan were sloppy in their game management as they somehow lost to Leigh 1-0 on Thursday night.

Hull are contending with a number of injuries and while they are at home and will be desperate to do well in front of their fans, it will be tough to hit the heights of last week.

Wigan were a little unfortunate that some decision (rightly) went against them last week that would have led to tries but they will rue not taking a couple of shots at a drop goal when they were deep in Leigh’s territory. It is hard to imagine Wigan playing as poorly this week and Peet will have them fired up here.

We expect the visitors to click into gear more so than last week and they will get the win here. We like them to just narrowly beat the handicap but be cautious so early in the season.

Hull FC vs Wigan Warriors Tip: Wigan Warriors to win -11.5 points
