Huddersfield Giants Team News: Tom Burgess in line to make league debut against brother Sam
The big news for the Huddersfield Giants is that Tom Burgess is set to make his league debut for the club and ironically it comes against brother Sam who is head coach of Warrington. The Giants are without some important players however as Taane Milne is in Australia and Liam Sutcliffe and George King are injured.
Squad: Jacob Gagai, Adam Swift, Jake Bibby, Tui Lolohea, Oliver Wilson, Zac Woolford, Tom Burgess, Jack Murchie, Sam Hewitt, Harry Rushton, Ashton Golding, Matty English, Joe Greenwood, Fenton Rogers, Elliot Wallis, Leroy Cudjoe, Danny Richardson, Jack Billington, Connor Carr, George Flanagan, Jack Bibby
Warrington Wolves Team News: King and Powell in squad but Fitzgibbon misses out
Toby King and Sam Powell have both been named in the Warrington Wolves’ first league squad of the season after overcoming injuries. There is every chance however that their minutes are carefully managed if they do play. Sam Burgess has held out Lachlan Fitzgibbon rather than rush the forward back after a shoulder injury but Burgess still has a strong squad for this match.
Squad: Matty Ashton, Jordy Crowther, Ben Currie, Matt Dufty, James Harrison, Adam Holroyd, Toby King, Oli Leyland, Arron Lindop, Zane Musgrove, Joe Philbin, Sam Powell, Stefan Ratchford, Dan Russell, Rodrick Tai, Cai Taylor-Wray, Josh Thewlis, Paul Vaughan, Danny Walker, George Williams, Luke Yates
Huddersfield Giants vs Warrington Wolves Prediction
Predicting the first round of matches in the Super League has been challenging task (Salford aside) and this is another tricky match to call.
There is no doubting that the quality is heavily with Warrington and they would usually be expected to outclass the Giants but it is the start of the season and it is easier to destroy than create as the players get up to sharpness.
The Giants will be fired up to do well here and they should keep it competitive. They look to have recruited fairly well and they will get into the Warrington faces early on.
Warrington will be desperate to put an early marker down and we do expect them to win. 10.5 point handicap is tough however and we have to lean towards the home side keeping the score within that.
Huddersfield Giants vs Warrington Wolves Tip: Huddersfield Giants +10.5 points
