Holger Rune vs Corentin Moutet Prediction

It has been a typically inconsistent start to 2025 for Holger Rune and the Dane’s preparations for this tournament were not helped by the stomach bug that forced him to withdraw from the Mexican Open just over a week ago.

Rune is the 12th seed this week and he will be hoping to do well in California and potentially surpass his best-ever finish which was the quarter-finals last year.

He gets underway against France’s Corentin Moutet who is something of a clay-court specialist but he claimed an excellent win over the returning Jordan Thompson.

Moutet does not overly have the pedigree on hard courts nor at Indian Wells but he will take confidence from his win in the first round. Rune will be a tough opponent however and he should be sharper than Thompson who has been injured for several weeks. 

We expect the Dane to have too much all-round quality for Moutet although it would be no surprise if he starts slowly here and potentially drops a set.
