Harriet Dart has struggled for form since her fine showing at the Australian Open, in which she got past the qualifiers before falling to Donna Vekic in the second round despite taking the first set. In the three events since, she lost in the first round of the Singapore Open, failed to get past the qualifiers of Miami, and was then beaten by number one seed Jacqueline Cristian at the Puerto Vallarta Open.
Varvara Gracheva, the current French number one, has fared slightly better this season, managing to earn the scalp of two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova on her way to making the second round at Indian Wells.
These two are very evenly matched, with Dart and Gracheva ranked 60 and 65 in the world respectively. However, the latter has more pedigree on clay, having reached the fourth round of the French Open last year and we think she will prove to have too much for Dart.
