Hamad Medjedovic vs Denis Shapovalov Prediction

What a week it has been for 21-year-old Serb Hamad Medjedovic in Belgrade this week. He has played some outstanding tennis and beaten a string of quality opponents to reach the final.

He started the week beating Brandon Nakashima in three sets and then won in straight sets against Aleksandar Kovacevic and Francisco Cerundolo. His toughest match came in the semi-finals when he met experienced compatriot Laslo Djere but he won a third set tiebreak and now he finds himself in the final.

He meets Denis Shapovalov who has been on a tear this week too. His route to the final has been equally challenging in terms of the opponents he has faced but he has largely outclassed everybody he has played. The highlight was the 6-2 6-1 win over the talented Jiri Lehecka in the semi-finals and Shapovalov was as good as Lehecka was poor in that match.

Medjedovic will certainly have all the home support on his side here but it is Shapovalov who we are picking to win the title. While the young Serb will be desperate for the win, it is the more experienced Shapovalov who should be better equipped to produce on the day.
