Gujarat Giants Preview: Death bowling their downfall

Gujarat Giants must have thought that were going to start off with a win against Royal Challengers Bengaluru after racking up 201/5 batting first. However, the Gujarat bowling attack lost control after having restricted RCB to 85/3 following 11.4 overs, as the reigning champions then proceeded to unload on the bowlers, with Georgia Wareham conceding 50 runs from three overs. In the end, RCB reached their 202-run target with 1.3 overs to spare, a huge disappointment from Gujarat’s point of view.

UP Warriorz Preview: Healy miss a huge blow

UP Warriorz haven’t been seen by many as potential winners of this year’s WPL and that’s mainly due to the bad news regarding their skipper pre-tournament. Australian star Alyssa Healy will not be back to captain the Warriorz this year due to injury and her batting, wicketkeeper and general leadership skills are a seismic loss to their dressing room. Vice-captain Deepti Sharma steps up in Healy’s absence

Gujarat Giants Betting Analysis

A magnificent all-round effort from Ash Gardner propped up Gujarat Giants on Friday, but Beth Mooney also warrants attention as the top-order batter recorded an excellent half-century opening the innings. Mooney was one of many Aussies who enjoyed a superb Ashes series prior to the WPL and has clearly carried that form into the competition. Back her to this time finish the game as Gujarat’s top scorer.

UP Warriorz Betting Analysis

UP Warriorz can still call upon some quality overseas players even without Healy in the mix. With the ball, Sophie Ecclestone is seen as one of the best spin-bowlers in the world and her left-arm darts always represent a constant wicket-taking threat. She’s almost certain to bowl four overs across the opposition innings assuming it is played out in full and backing Ecclestone to gain 2+ wickets is worth a play.

Gujarat Giants vs UP Warriorz Expert Prediction

Gujarat Giants having already played on this ground only a couple of days ago should give them a slight advantage heading into this contest. Their players have fully acclimatised to conditions and will no doubt know all about the dimensions, having already struck over 200 runs here across a single innings. The Gujarat bowlers need to tighten up no doubt, but there are too many question marks at this point about UP Warriorz without Healy, so the Giants should be backed to win this game.
