Grigor Dimitrov vs Gael Monfils Prediction

Grigor Dimitrov overcame Nuno Borges in his opening match as he ran out 6-3 6-4 winner. The Bulgarian legend was in good form and showed no signs of the physical issues which forced him to withdraw in Dubai in the previous tournament before Indian Wells.

That is always a risk with Dimitrov as his body is clearly failing him more than ever and it will be interesting to see how he faces against a man five years older than him here.

He meets Gael Monfils who continues to defy the years and play some quality tennis. After overcoming Jan-Lennard Struff in the first round, Monfils beat Sebastian Korda 7-6 7-6 last time out.

Monfils leads the head-to-head 4-2 but Dimitrov won the last meeting between them at Wimbledon last year. That was their first meeting since 2016 and it is hard to read too much into their previous meetings.

So much will likely depend on what condition each player comes into this match in. It is Monfils who appears in the better physical condition and he has certainly enjoyed the better start to 2025. For those reasons, we just have that fraction more confidence in Monfils coming into this one.
