Grigor Dimitrov vs Brandon Nakashima Prediction
Grigor Dimitrov moved into the last 16 in Miami after battling from a set down against Karen Khachanov, with the Bulgarian eventually prevailing 6-7 (3-7), 6-4, 7-5. This followed a routine straight-sets triumph over Italian youngster Federico Cina in the previous round.
A runner-up in Miami last year when he lost to Jannik Sinner in the final, Dimitrov had endured a poor 2025 up until the Sunshine Double, but his run to the last 16 at Indian Wells has now been matched by what he has achieved in this tournament so there are signs that his game is heading in the right direction.
31st seed Brandon Nakashima’s career is certainly on an upwards trajectory, with the 23-year-old currently at a career-high of 32 in the ATP rankings. The American has reached the last 16 in Miami for the first time in his career following a pair of three-set victories over Roberto Carballes Baena and a resurgent David Goffin.
Dimitrov and Nakashima have met just twice on tour – both meetings coming in 2022 – and boast a win apiece. Nakashima was the victor in their solitary hard-court meeting in the second round of the US Open that year, winning in three close sets.
The bookies have Dimitrov as the favourite here but Nakashima has been playing solid tennis over the past month and is more than capable of taking this to a deciding set. Dimitrov in three is the prediction.
Grigor Dimitrov vs Brandon Nakashima Tip: Grigor Dimitrov to win 2-1
