TSZ TIPS
HARRIS ENGLISH
- One of the form players on the PGA Tour so far this season is Harris English as he has five top ten finishes in his eight appearances with a victory at the Sentry, 4th at the US Open and T5 at the Mayakoba Golf Classic.
- He came T32 last time out at the Sony Open as he was not helped by an opening round 70 but he came back nicely in a low-scoring event and with all the fundamentals to his game in good shape right now, he is favoured to be contending on Sunday afternoon.
TIP: Top five finish
JON RAHM
- Of all the players in the field for this weekend, it is Jon Rahm who has the best form a Torrey Pines in recent years having won it back in 2017 and finishing as runner-up last year, one shot behind to Marc Leishman.
- Rahm has played just one event in 2021 so far as he came T7 at the Sentry three weeks ago while he has since been dealing with a slight back problem, but he will be raring to go on a course that has served him well in recent years and his form has been good in his last few appearances on the PGA Tour (T7 at Sentry, T7 at the Masters, T2 at the Zozo).
TIP: Winner
RORY MCILROY
- While it has been more than a year since Rory McIlroy won on the PGA Tour, there are signs that he is returning to somewhere close to his best and if he can overcome the long journey from Abu Dhabi, he can be competing for the title on Sunday.
- He finished third at the Abu Dhabi Championship last weekend after a disappointing final round saw him fade from contention but he looked in excellent form prior to that and after a T3 and T5 finish at the Farmers in the last two years, McIlroy will come close once again here.
TIP: Top five finish
