Gian van Veen vs Ricardo Pietreczko Prediction

22-year-old Gian van Veen has had a meteoric rise in the last couple of years and the Dutchman is a promising a talent on the PDC Tour. He lost to Luke Littler in the World Youth Championships in 2023 and then won it in 2024 and he has plenty of potential.

He lost in the first round last year to Man Lok Leung on his debut but he will be hoping to get a win under his belt this time around. Ranked 28 in the world, Van Veen has shown he can produce at the highest level having reached the quarters in the Grand Slam this year and he will be eager to put in a good showing here.

He meets Ricardo Pietreczko, another talented German on the tour. He eased to a 3-0 win over Xiaochen Zong on Tuesday as he averaged 88.68 and hit 56.3% on his checkouts (9/16). If he can replicate that, this will be a competitive match and he can certainly cause Van Veen some trouble here.

Van Veen is a pretty big favourite here and it is hard to love that at current prices. If he starts well, he will take some stopping but Ricardo Pietreczko is a solid player and he will make this competitive. We expect this to go to four or event five sets so consider set betting and the value on the German.

Gian van Veen vs Ricardo Pietreczko Tip: Over 3.5 sets
