Getafe Preview: Irritating Getafe
In his second stint in charge of Getafe, Jose Bordalas’ side begin the weekend’s round of fixtures sitting just outside of the bottom three and the relegation places on goal difference. It has been a very slow start to the campaign for the Madrid-based club with just one victory in their opening 13 matches.
The home team come into this one on the back of back-to-back defeats ahead of the November international break. They were beaten 1-0 by Celta Vigo at Balaidos in Galicia before then being edged out by a goal to nil at the Coliseum against Girona thanks to a 42nd minute winning goal from Colombia international Yangel Herrera.
Real Valladolid Preview: Struggling Valladolid
Last season, Real Valladolid gained automatic promotion back to the top-flight as Segunda Division runners’ up behind Leganes. Chairman and owner Ronaldo managed to keep hold of Uruguayan coach Paolo Pezzolano but things haven’t gone to plan as they begin the weekend sitting in the bottom three and the relegation places.
Valladolid have won just two of their opening 13 matches of the campaign. They did earn a more than respectable point against Athletic Club at Estadio Jose Zorrilla a couple of weeks ago but will be frustrated by that result with Raul Moro’s 79th minute opener cancelled out by Gorka Guruzeta’s second-half stoppage-time equaliser.
Getafe Team News: Couple of issues
Getafe have been dealing with a depleted squad throughout this season in which Jose Bordalas has pushed players out of position like Christantus Uche playing up-front.
Former Real Madrid winger Peter is unavailable for this one, whilst Borja Mayoral is also a key injury doubt in attacking areas for the hosts this weekend.
Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): David Soria; Jorge Iglesias, Domingos Duarte, Omar Alderete, Diego Rico; Jesus Santiago, Mauro Arambarri; Nyom, Luis Milla, Carles Perez; Uche
Unavailable: Peter (Injured)
Questionable: Borja Mayoral (Injured)
Real Valladolid Team News: Finding a formula
After gaining promotion to the top-flight last season, Valladolid and Paulo Pezzolano have been too key to heavily rotate and that has meant they lack rhythm throughout this campaign.
They are dealing with one injury concern for this weekend’s trip to the capital city as former Chelsea and Newcastle United man Kenedy is sidelined for the visitors.
Predicted XI (5-4-1): Hein; Lucas Perez, Juma Bah, Jorge Sanchez, David Torres, Rosa; Raul Moro, Juric, Kike Perez, Anuar; Sylla
Unavailable: Kenedy (Injured)

Getafe vs Real Valladolid Prediction
As mentioned, La Liga on the whole has been dour and defensive in recent seasons with Jose Bordalas perhaps encapsulating that more than anyone. The hosts have scored just eight goals in 13 matches and they are one of just two sides, alongside Valencia who have played just 11 games, to have scored fewer goals than Valladolid so far this season. As a result, a low-scoring encounter is to be expected for this one.
Getafe vs Real Valladolid Tip: Under 2.5 goals
