The prediction

The traditional Easter Monday clash pits two longtime rivals against each other. Geelong will be chasing win four of the season while Hawthorn will be looking to bounce back from their surprising performance against Port Adelaide in Gather round.

Geelong were superb in the second half of their match against the Crows turning a 30-point deficit into a 119 to 100 victory.

Hawthorn on the other hand came back to Earth with a thud after a blitz from Port Adelaide saw them trial by as many as 71 points before putting some respectability on the scoreboard late.

Patrick Dangerfield’s semi-permanent move to the forward line is paying dividends, he kicked four goals last week as did spearhead Jeremy Cameron. In the midfield by Bailey Smith had 17 contested possessions to go along with a major.

Hawthorn's lone bright spot last week was veteran Jack Gunston who kicked six goals albeit in a losing cause.

Geelong has dominated this match up recently winning five of six including a 106 to 70 victory in the corresponding encounter last year.

We think that Geelong can take some momentum from last week’s performance and get over the top of the Hawks in a close one.

Geelong vs Hawthorn tip: Geelong Cats to win by 1-39 points
