Gael Monfils enjoyed some impressive results at the Sunshine Double, beating seed Sebastian Korda in straight sets at Indian Wells before losing to Grigor Dimitrov, while also winning three rounds at the Miami Open before losing at the round of 16 stage to Korda, who got his revenge.

The 38-year-old made the final of this event nine years ago but lost in three sets to champion Rafael Nadal. He begins yet another clay court season here against Fabian Marozsan. The Hungarian was set to play at the Bucharest Open last week but withdrew before the event started. The last match between the pair was less than three weeks ago, as Monfils defeated Marozsan in three sets to advance through to the second round in Miami.

The overall head-to-head is 1-1, as Marozsan won their first encounter in Auckland over a year ago, but we think Monfils, who is ranked 38 places higher than his opponent, will start his campaign with a win here.
