Francisco Cerundolo vs Tomas Martin Etcheverry Prediction

Francisco Cerundolo comes into this quarter-final having just played the one match so far as he beat Yannick Hanfmann 6-2 4-6 7-6. After playing in both Buenos Aires and Rio in the last couple of weeks, the gentler schedule so far will be welcomed by Cerundolo but he will still be keen to do well this week.

He meets compatriot Tomas Etcheverry in what promises to be a cracking match. Etcheverry has eased to victory in both of his matches so far against Hugo Gaston and Cristian Garin and his confidence will be high coming into this one.

He too played in both Buenos Aires and Rio but was a little disappointing in those playing just three matches across the two tournaments so he should be fresh this week.

They have met twice on the ATP Tour and Etcheverry has won both of those matches including one in Santiago two years ago and then in the US Open last year. Going beyond the Tour, they have met seven times including qualifying, Challenger and Future matches and Etcheverry leads the head-to-head 4-3.

We have a marginal preference for Etcheverry coming into this one but with no real confidence. Our preferred play here is on games and we fancy this one to go three sets.
