Francisco Cerundolo vs Roberto Carballes Baena Prediction

Francisco Cerundolo gets under way in Auckland and he received a bye in the first round due to the fact he is the fourth seed. The Argentine has not played an ATP Tour event since the end of last season and he will be hoping to hit the ground running against Spanish veteran Roberto Carballes Baena.

The 31-year-old Spaniard had a change in opponent in the first round but that did not faze him as he beat Daniel Altmaier 6-3 3-6 7-5. He did play in Hong Kong last week and was eliminated in the first round by Gabriel Diallo so he will be hoping for better here.

It is Cerundolo who leads the head-to-head having won both of their previous meetings. They came in Rio on clay but that will give Cerundolo the confidence coming into this match. The Argentine has the edge of Carballes Baena and he can hand out another loss to the Spaniard here.
