Francisco Cerundolo vs Jan-Lennard Struff prediction

Francisco Cernudolo made a fabulous start to Monte-Carlo, blitzing past veteran Fabio Fognini and then taking a one-set lead against four-time Grand Slam champion Carlos Alcaraz. Unfortunately for the Argentinian, Alcaraz raised his game and completely overpowered Cerundolo, winning the next two sets with the loss of just one game in less than an hour.

Despite that setback, Cerundolo should take confidence from his recent form, with back-to-back quarter-finals at the Sunshine Double events and already a final appearance at a tournament on clay. He faces last year’s champion Jan-Lennard Struff in the first round here.

This time last year was perhaps the crowning moment of Struff’s career, as he won his only ATP Tour singles title in his home country with a shock win against Taylor Fritz in the final. His fortunes are vastly different now, with the German currently on a seven-match losing streak and his confidence at an all-time low.

Despite winning the event last year, we cannot see Struff in his current form causing Cerundolo too many problems in the first round.
