Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo is all set to compete in his third Miami Open quarter-final match over the course of the last four years. He is yet to drop a set so far in this year’s tournament and has been one of the standout players on show so far. Alexandre Muller of France, USA’s Tommy Paul and fifth seed Casper Ruud have all fallen to Cerundolo, who dropped just six games in his statement-making 6-4, 6-2 victory over Ruud, the clearest indication yet that he could go all the way here.

Grigor Dimitrov has looked his old self across the Miami Open, not letting any injuries get the better of him to reach the last eight. The Bulgarian came through a tough three-setter against Karen Khachanov, but followed that up with a really-well played straight sets win over American Brandon Nakashima. However, he’s running into a train right now in Cerundolo, whose power and accuracy is proving so difficult to contain.

Long rallies are likely to work in Cerundolo’s favour and he may well end up pulling Dimitrov around the court. The ruthless way in which Cerundolo took down Ruud was so impressive that he has to be favoured for victory here if he can replicate that level of performance again on this occasion.
