With the final international break of the year in the books, FPL managers can turn their attention to a long stretch of consecutive gameweeks. This should lead to opportunities for fantasy bosses to catch up with their respective mini-league rivals with fixtures coming thick and fast and a midweek round of Premier League games not far away.

Getting off to a good start come the resumption for FPL managers will be critical and when taking this into account, we’re back to highlight three premium options worthy of being named your campaign, along with a differential pick ahead of Saturday’s 11:00am deadline.

PREMIUM OPTIONS

Mo Salah (£12.9m) vs SOU (a)

Over 50% of the FPL community now own the Liverpool star, so the best way to take advantage of Salah’s output in Gameweek 12 will be to captain him. Three double-figure point returns across the last four gameweeks suggests that the Egyptian is the best option. Salah has racked up 45 fantasy points since the start of Gameweek 8, which includes three goals and two assists.

Liverpool travel to Southampton in Gameweek 12, who sit rock bottom of the table having conceded 21 goals in 11 league games. Only one of those matches ended in a clean sheet for the Saints and it’s hard not to see Arne Slot’s side finding the net on multiple occasions here. Therefore, captaining Salah appears a sensible move.

Erling Haaland (£15.2m) vs TOT (H)

On the back of four goals for Norway during the most recent international break, including a hat-trick against Kazakhstan, Haaland will want to take Man City’s recent frustrations out on Spurs at the Etihad Stadium. Pep Guardiola’s men have lost their last four in all competitions, despite Haaland scoring in the most recent of those defeats away at Brighton and the break has more than likely come at a good time for them.

Man City are usually at their most dangerous when hurt and you have to believe that Guardiola will have them fired up and ready to come out of the traps quickly vs Spurs. Haaland is looking to add to his 12 Premier League goals already scored this season, not to mention his current FPL score of 82 points, comfortably the most among forwards and the third highest of any asset across all positions.

Bruno Fernandes (£8.4m) vs IPS (a)

Plenty of Gameweek 12 eyes will be on Portman Road in what is Ruben Amorim’s first game as Man Utd head coach since joining from Sporting Lisbon. From an FPL point of view, what sort of impact will Amorim’s style of play have on Man Utd and which players will be favoured. If attacking midfielder Bruno Fernandes can pick up where he left off under Ruud Van Nistelrooy, then he could well return to becoming the once must-own fantasy asset he was back in his early days at the Red Devils.

Fernandes’ last two Premier League appearances have seen him record two goals, two assists and 27 FPL points including double-figure returns in both games. Ipswich meanwhile, have shut out their opponents just once in their last seven league matches and with the Portuguese international likely desperate to impress Amorim against Ipswich, giving him the armband could prove a masterstroke.

DIFFERENTIAL OPTION

Joao Pedro (£5.5m) vs BOU (a)

One of the most popular FPL assets to own back at the beginning of the campaign, injury struck Joao Pedro in Gameweek 5 and kept him out for five league games. However, the Brighton forward is back fit and back in the goals after coming off the bench in Gameweek 11 to help orchestrate a remarkable turnaround.

The Brazilian scored one and set up another, earning 11 fantasy points in just 25 minutes as the Seagulls came from behind to beat Man City 2-1. At such a cheap price and an ownership still under 10%, Joao Pedro could end up being the most enticing differential captain pick of Gameweek 12 as Fabian Hurzeler’s side visit Bournemouth.
