THE TEAM NEWS
YOKOHAMA F. MARINOS
- Yokohama F. Marinos come into this friendly match with Man City having won their last three J-League matches and they sit second in the lead just behind Tokyo as they are vying for the title this season.
- The attacking triumvirate of Edigar Junio, Marcos Junior and Nakagawa have racked up 27 goals between them in the league so far and they will be keen to test themselves against the Premier League champions.
- They are the topscoring team in the J-League with 35 goals but they have conceded 25 goals in their 20 matches despite being second and this will be a tough test for their defence against what is one of the best attacking teams in world football.
MAN CITY
- City have arrived in Japan for what is the final leg of their Asian tour and they come from playing in Hong Kong where they beat local team Kitchee 6-1 and they will finalise preparations for the new season as they have the Community Shield next weekend.
- Pep Guardiola has been fielding relatively strong teams in the three friendlies so far and that will likely be the case once again here and the integration of Phil Foden is expected to continue with the young playmaker being praised highly by Guardiola in the build-up to this game.
- Leroy Sane has been the focus of much speculation surrounding his future but Guardiola has reiterated his desire to keep the talented German winger and he is another that is seeing plenty of playing time right now in what should be a strong starting team but with wholesale changes expected in the second half.
THE PREDICTION
City have been ramping up their preparations with every match and they showed no mercy last time out against a local club from Hong Kong. They will face a tougher test against Yokohama who are one of the best teams in Japan, but they Asian side have plenty of defensive deficiencies and City will be confident of exploiting that. Expect goals and a comfortable win for Guardiola’s men.
