IRAQ PREVIEW: JESUS CASAS’ MEN STILL YET TO CONCEDE A GOAL

Two games played, one win, a draw, four points on the board with no goals conceded. Safe to say it’s been a very promising start to life in Group B for Iraq in their quest for a historic FIFA World Cup spot. Tougher challenges lie ahead, particularly following this game with Korea Republic to come after that.

However, to get points in the bank early puts them in an excellent spot with a top four finish enough to extend their qualification hopes and as it stands, even the dream of top two remains a reality, especially if their defensive form continues.

PALESTINE PREVIEW: DEFENCE OVERPOWERED BY JORDAN LAST TIME OUT

Palestine surprised enough after a heroic rear-guard showing saw them hold Korea Republic to a 0-0 draw in the opening round of Group B fixtures. But that backline couldn’t keep Jordan at bay for 90 minutes. They got the better of Palestine by three goals to one, meaning the latter are in fifth-place with one point.

If Palestine are to start putting wins on the board, they will need to improve going forward and the likes of Wessam Abou Ali, goalscorer against Jordan is likely to be crucial to their plans with good service to him being vital.

IRAQ VS PALESTINE PREDICTION

If Iraq are to cement their place in the top four of Group B or even make a push for one of those top two spots, their home form will need to remain pristine. They were excellent against Oman, particularly from a defensive perspective. Repeating those levels of performance here may well prove enough to get the better of Palestine, who won’t be easy to break down but don’t look the best side offensively.
