If Spain were to drop any points in that one, after losing to Greece a few days earlier, then the Greeks could displace Spain in second with victory over Kosovo. Greece have been out of international competition since 2014 but this qualification campaign has seen a return to more stubborn effectiveness and is an improvement on recent years. Spain, despite reaching the UEFA Euro 2020 semi-finals and UEFA Nations League final this year, have remained unconvincing against deep defensive lines in qualification. The visitors will remain favourites but due to their lack of incision against a deep defence, it is unlikely to be thrilling or high-scoring.
