THE PREDICTION
Uruguay have had a brutal fixture run recently having faced Colombia at home, followed by away trips to Argentina and Brazil, before now facing the Argentines once more. They have so far yielded just a point from this stretch of games, leaving them firmly in mid-table as they chase down an automatic qualification spot. Second-placed Argentina, meanwhile, are one of only two unbeaten teams in qualifying and indeed have not lost a match in any competition since July 2019 – a run of 25 games. Despite something of a rift between the national team and PSG over the matter, Lionel Messi has been declared fit to play and that is a huge boost to the visitors. The reverse fixture last month was a convincing 3-0 win for Argentina but this one should prove to be a closer affair in Montevideo, where Uruguay are much more solid. Under 2.5 goals would not be a surprise.
