Gustavo Alfaro’s Ecuador come into this on the back of a 1-1 draw with El Salvador at the start of December in an international friendly. La Tri have enjoyed a very impressive CONMEBOL qualification campaign and are close to confirming their spot at Qatar 2022, behind Brazil and Argentina. They come up against that aforementioned Brazilian side and the Selecao still do have something to play for. Not only is top spot and finishing above Argentina not guaranteed, they are also looking to finish the qualifying campaign unbeaten. Given that, Ecuador’s home advantage will give them an edge too so a draw would look a good bet for this one.
