ECUADOR PREVIEW: STRONG ECUADOR
With emerging talent such as Piero Hincapie, Moises Caicedo, Kendry Paez and Jeremy Sarmiento, Ecuador will be expecting to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup with relative ease but they were left frustrated the other day.
Up against an underwhelming and unconvincing Brazilian side, Ecuador were beaten by a goal to nil in a game with little action and one in which they arguably even shaded but Rodrygo’s strike was enough to separate the two sides.
PERU PREVIEW: POOR SUMMER
Ricardo Gareca led Peru to the final of CONMEBOL Copa America and to the 2018 FIFA World Cup within the last decade but things certainly drifted towards the end of his reign and the now Chile boss was replaced by Jorge Fossati at the beginning of this year.
After a difficult CONMEBOL Copa America this summer in which they exited at the group stage without scoring a goal, they will be pleased to have taken a 1-1 draw away from a game against a strong Colombian side the other day.
ECUADOR TEAM NEWS: ISSUES IN THE SIDE
There are a few issues for Ecuador as they face Peru this week as Cristian Ramirez and Alan Minda have joined Angelo Preciado as injury doubts for this one.

PERU TEAM NEWS: FULLY FIT AND AVAILABLE
The Peruvians have a fully fit and available squad for this one and after a strong performance and result the other day, there appears no reason for them to make any changes.

ECUADOR VS PERU PREDICTION
There does now appear to be a bit of a gap and a gulf between these two sides as they prepare to meet in Quito. Whilst Peru will be pleased with a draw against Colombia in Lima the other day, they remain quite limited and destined to just be challenging for a top seven spot and the intercontinental playoff place. Ecuador are difficult to beat with some attacking talent to decide games and an Ecuadorian victory does appear quite likely.
