PREDICTED LINE-UPS
Austria: Zinsberger; Wienroither, Wenninger, Schnaderbeck, Hanshaw; Zadrazil, Puntigam, Feiersinger; Dunst, Billa, Naschenweng
Northern Ireland: Burns; Nelson, McFadden, Burrows; Magee, Callaghan, McCarron, Vance; Wade, Furness, K McGuinness
THE PREDICTIONNorthern Ireland can take heart from the fight they showed against Norway last time in Southampton and although they were beaten 4-1, to find the net against such quality opposition and ultimately draw the second-half 1-1 is an achievement their players can be proud of. Austria represent the best chance Northern Ireland have of gaining any points in Group A, but again it will be a huge ask for them. Although Irene Fuhrmann’s side lost to England in their opening group game, to lose by just a single goal against one of the favourites to win the tournament in front of their home crowd is a testament as to their defensive grit. In Northern Ireland they face a significantly weaker team as opposed to England and thus should be afforded more clear-cut chances, so back Austria to pick up three crucial points in this one.
