THE PREDICTION

At Stade Velodrome this season, Olympique de Marseille defeated Ajax, Shakhtar Donetsk, Villarreal and then Benfica but the French giants were held to a 1-1 draw by Atalanta in the first-leg of this UEFA Europa League semi-final. On the road, Jean-Louis Gasset’s side have been much more underwhelming and that means Atalanta will welcome the Ligue 1 side to Italy with a lot of confidence. After defeating Liverpool in the quarters and also competing for UEFA Champions League qualification in Serie A, as well as having the Coppa Italia final against Juventus to look forward to, it could be a special season for Gian Piero Gasperini’s men and, with home advantage, should be backed to edge through to a first ever European final.
