Ajax have totally dominated Group C and are one of only three teams – the others being Liverpool and Bayern Munich – who are bidding to finish the group stage with a 100% record and that is the only thing riding on this game as visiting Sporting cannot be overtaken in second. There was a gulf in class in the reverse fixture between the two with Ajax running out 1-5 winners thanks in large part to a four-goal haul from in-form striker Sebastien Haller, and while the Portuguese side have improved since then and can be expected to put up a stronger fight, you’d still have to side with this impressive Ajax side.
