THE PREDICTION

A historic occasion for Europa League winners Eintracht Frankfurt sees them host Sporting CP in their opening Champions League group stage match. Neither of these two teams have started well in the respective domestic leagues, particularly from a defensive perspective with Frankfurt having kept just one clean sheet in their last six in all competitions, whilst Sporting CP had conceded an average of two goals per game since the start of the campaign up until this past weekend when they defeated Estoril Praia 0-2. Against a fired-up Frankfurt, the Sporting backline is in for a serious examination as the hosts are likely to deploy a very attacking style of play. However, this may leave Oliver Glasner’s side exposed defensively and the Portuguese outfit space to exploit inside the opposition half. With that in mind, consider backing both teams to score regardless of the final outcome.
