THE LOWDOWN
Pep Guardiola leads his Manchester City team to the Allianz Arena for the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final against Bayern Munich on Wednesday night. The Premier League champions have a 3-0 lead from the first leg, which took place last week and saw Thomas Tuchel's Bayern Munich struggle. Manchester City board their flight to Germany with plenty of confidence.
THE PREDICTION
Thomas Tuchel will point to the first half of last week’s defeat to Man City, where Bayern were arguably the better team, as evidence that the German side are capable of turning this tie in their favour. However, it seems almost unfathomable that City will concede so many times without scoring themselves. Erling Haaland was signed last summer primarily to give City that final push to clinch the coveted Champions League trophy, and so far he has shown he is more than up to the task. The Norwegian is the top scorer in the competition this season and has scored multiple times against Bayern in his career, so backing the prolific striker in the anytime goalscorer market makes a lot of sense here.
