THE PREDICTION

Xabi Alonso marked his first game in charge of Bayer Leverkusen by leading his side to an emphatic 4-0 victory over Schalke in the Bundesliga at the weekend. He will hope to enjoy similar success in his Champions League bow with the Germans needing to win to stay in the hunt for a spot in the next round. They have won just one of their three games so far having gone down to Porto in their latest encounter, a win that was a first in Group B for the Portuguese outfit. Porto come into this with three straight wins in all competitions to their name but have won just two of their last five on the road and they may find it tough to overcome the feel-good factor that Alonso’s arrival has generated.
