THE PREDICTION

Atletico Madrid will be desperate to get off to the ideal start in Group B, but won’t have it their own way against Portuguese champions Porto. Under Sergio Conceicao, you would expect the visitors to set up in an extremely solid shape and prove very tough to break down and the same can be said for the hosts, who have always been seen as an excellent defensive unit as you would expect from a side led by Diego Simeone. Although it’s important to note that an injury sustained by Atletico first-choice goalkeeper Jan Oblak is expected to rule him out of this match and his absence cannot be underestimated. Combine that with the current injury crisis engulfing the hosts and Porto really do have a big opportunity to get something out of this opening group game on the road. Consider backing Conceicao’s men to either draw or win via the double chance market.
