THE PREDICTION
Dutch champions Ajax will be wanting to get off to a good start in Group A, although this is a different team to that of last season with the likes of Sebastien Haller and Antony leaving the club on the playing side, but most notably head coach Erik ten Hag having departed for Man Utd. New boss Alfred Schreuder has got off to a good start though, winning all five of their Eredivisie fixtures so far. Rangers meanwhile, qualified for the group stage on the back of beating another Dutch side in PSV Eindhoven over two legs in the play-off round. However, it’s not been a pleasant week so far for Giovanni van Bronkhorst’s side, who were thrashed 4-0 by old firm rivals Celtic at the weekend and confidence within the dressing room will have likely taken a significant hit. Ajax may well be set to capitalise on this and should dominate possession, dictating the tempo of play across the 90 minutes. Combine that with home advantage being in their favour and it’s well worth backing the hosts to come out on top here.
