TOTTENHAM PREVIEW: AFTER COVENTRY COMEBACK, SPURS FACE ULTIMATE TEST

Tottenham looked to be heading out of the League Cup in the previous round after going a goal down to Championship side Coventry. However, a late comeback saw them turn things around in the final few minutes of the game and win 1-2 late on, setting up this tie against Man City.

Ange Postecoglou's side come into this match on the back of defeat in the Premier League, losing 0-1 away at Crystal Palace. That loss followed consecutive victories in all competitions, making it all the more frustrating for the Spurs boss.

MAN CITY PREVIEW: HOW MUCH FOCUS IS ON LEAGUE CUP

The question from a Man City perspective is how important the League Cup is to them and Pep Guardiola. They are fighting on four fronts again this season with the Premier League and Champions League alongside both the League and FA Cup, the latter of which starts in January.

Guardiola obviously wants to win every game and the team he selects will be set up to do so. How strong he goes is anyone's guess, with star striker Erling Haaland obviously the main focus and whether he will start or play from bench. Whilst he could use a rest, him not being on the pitch obviously weakens Man City.

TOTTENHAM TEAM NEWS: LIKELY TOO SOON FOR SON

Postecoglou has indicated that Heung-Min Son will likely not be available until the weekend, whilst right-back Djed Spence is also unlikely to play. Richarlison could come into the side, as could Pape Matar Sarr.

PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Vicario; Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Udogie; Sarr, Bissouma, Maddison; Johnson, Solanke, Richarlison

UNAVAILABLE: Odobert (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Spence (Injured), Son (Injured)

MAN CITY TEAM NEWS: GREALISH IN RACE TO BE FIT

The visitors will check on the fitness of Jack Grealish ahead of the game and they could really use him being available when considering the injuries to the likes of De Bruyne, Doku and Bobb.

PREDICTED XI (4-1-4-1): Ederson; Lewis, Stones, Dias, Ake; Gundogan; Savinho, Nunes, Silva, McAtee; Haaland

UNAVAILABLE: Walker (Injured), Rodri (Injured), De Bruyne (Injured), Doku (Injured), Bobb (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Grealish (Injured)

TOTTENHAM VS MAN CITY PREDICTION

Tottenham will surely see this as an opportunity. Yes, Man City are an excellent team and no matter who plays for the visitors, it'll be a stiff challenge. But Spurs are at home, desperate for silverware and Postecoglou is tactically capable of setting his side up in a way that can frustrate and ultimate hurt Man City on the counter attack. With that in mind, both teams to score is worth considering with the outcome having the potential to go either way.
